A CMP (comprehensive metabolic panel) is a group of blood tests that check blood sugar, electrolyte balance, and how the kidneys and liver are functioning. Because some cancer treatments are processed through the liver or kidneys, this panel may be checked periodically to help monitor how your body is tolerating treatment.
A single unusual value on its own doesn't necessarily mean something is wrong — your care team looks at trends over time and alongside your symptoms.
